The Director of Events is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, execution, and evaluation of all organizational meetings and events. This includes both larger conferences and trade shows as well as smaller strategic planning meetings and staff retreats. The Director will also oversee exhibit hall operations and ensure full execution of sponsorship deliverables, working closely with the Exhibit and Sponsorship Sales position.
Meeting Planning & Execution:
Coordinate site selection, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships (hotels, A/V, transportation, general service contractors, sales contractors, etc.).
Develop meeting timelines, budgets, and planning documents, working closely with the association’s finance team.
Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards for exhibit operations.
Collaborate with sales and marketing for exhibitor promotion and recognition.
Will be the main point of contact to service exhibitors after sales process is complete.
Sponsorship Fulfillment:
Execute sponsor deliverables in accordance with sponsorship agreements.
Ensure accurate placement of logos, signage, and acknowledgments across all event materials and platforms.
Make sure that the sales team tracks sponsorship metrics appropriately and compile post-event fulfillment reports.
Identify and recommend new opportunities for sponsor engagement and visibility, working with the Exhibit and Sponsorship Sales position.
Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in meeting and event management within a nonprofit or association environment.
Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines.
Experience with iMIS EMS.
Travel Requirements
This position requires travel to support association meetings and events. Additional travel may be required based on programmatic needs and organizational priorities.
