The Manager – Business Development is primarily responsible for managing and expanding the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association’s (NCSA) Corporate Partner Program and other sponsorship opportunities. The Manager – Business Development also manages the Honorary Membership Program through overseeing the daily management of the program, managing relationships with vendors, and maintaining the honorary membership database.
The Manager – Business Development is responsible for assisting the Director - Business Development in developing relationships with new and existing Corporate Partners, event sponsors, and advertisers. The Manager - Business Development also works with the Director - Business Development on supporting the management of the Association’s Honorary Membership Program. This position reports to the Director – Business Development and assists the Association’s other team members as needed.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to:
Corporate Relations Responsibilities
Manages the Corporate Partner Program through cultivating and soliciting new corporate partners and retaining existing Corporate Partners.
Develops a comprehensive sponsorship program for all Association events in cooperation with the Director - Business Development.
Maintains effective working relationships with key contacts at existing and prospective corporate partners and event sponsors.
Creates and implements new Corporate Partner initiatives.
Works with Association’s Director - Business Development to establish annual goals and implement strategies to meet them.
Researches “planned giving” opportunities and implements a successful Planned Giving Program.
Evaluates available foundation support of non-profit organizations and seeks foundation support for NCSA’s programs.
Increases exhibitor involvement in Association events.
Identifies and creates new sponsorship opportunities at the Association’s annual events.
Coordinates the vendor exhibit hall at the Association’s annual events.
Creates and maintains calendars and inner-office reminders for the Honorary Membership Program, Corporate Partner Program, and other related project deadlines.
Assists Director - Business Development with coordination and management of the Association’s annual events for optimal sponsor and Corporate Partner recognition.
Honorary Membership Responsibilities
Manages the day-to-day activity of the Honorary Membership Program.
Responsible for managing ongoing relationships with all print and digital Honorary Membership vendors. Oversees and responsible for all copy and artwork approvals for all print and digital mailings.
Manages the creative aspects of all test mailings for digital and print mailings to ensure the Honorary Membership Program remains profitable and competitive.
Works directly with the Honorary Membership vendors to ensure over 2 million letters and 7 million emails are mailed on time and contain accurate data.
Manages a meticulous database for all Honorary Members to ensure the program maintains accurate and up to date member information.
Manages relationship with database vendor to ensure all member data is accurate. Implements new features to the member database to better serve the Honorary Membership Program.
Oversees all relationships with Honorary Membership vendors to ensure the important timeliness of all digital and print mailings throughout the year.
Works directly with Honorary Membership vendors to develop strategies for future mailings to ensure continued growth in both the print and digital program.
Provides ongoing member and customer database support to the Administrative Assistant – Business Development and the Director - Business Development.
Responsible for the Honorary Membership’s postage refund by the Administrative Assistant – Business Development.
Provides a detailed analysis of member demographics through the managing of the Honorary Membership database.
Manages the editorial content on all Honorary Membership mailings.
Manages and writes Association-specific articles for print newsletter as needed.
Manages the Administrative Assistant – Business Development for all Honorary Membership related tasks.
Manages the part-time Administrative Assistant – Business Development position.
Other Business Development Projects
Writes the NCSA lead article for the Association’s weekly E-Newsletter as needed.
Researches articles to be included in the E-Newsletter.
Reviews and edits copy and ensures validity of links before distribution of E-Newsletter.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education Requirement: 4-year college degree or equivalent experience.
Required Skills:
Minimum 3-5 years related work experience
Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team
Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Supplemental Information
The work is typically preformed in an office while sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects, weighing up to 20 pounds.
This is an in-office Monday through Friday full-time position. No hybrid nor work from home.
The North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association is the statewide organization of our state’s 100 Sheriffs. Through their Association, the Sheriffs work to strengthen the professional law enforcement services their offices provide to the people of North Carolina. The NC Sheriffs' Association and their 30 employees provide support to all 100 sheriffs across all 100 counties in North Carolina. This support includes being the central point of information and communications across all 100 sheriffs as well as providing the sheriffs with training and education.
