Position Summary: 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join ASM International’s finance team. The Controller will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of our financial operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, financial management, and non-profit regulations. As the Controller, you will collaborate closely with the executive leadership and contribute to the organization's overall financial strategy and decision-making process. 

This role will report to the Director of Finance and engage with all areas of the organization. The Controller will also play a critical role in the administration and maintenance of key software tools used to manage the organization, and continually look for improvements to process and systems.  

Responsibilities: 

Financial Management: 

• Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting. 
• Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. 

• Monitor financial performance against budgets, identify variances, and provide insights to leadership. 
• Manage financial software and identify opportunities for improved integration and processes. 

Financial Reporting: 

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. 
• Coordinate the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors to ensure timely completion and accuracy of audited financial statements. 

• Provide insightful analysis of financial data to support decision-making and strategic planning. 

Budgeting and Forecasting: 

• Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. 
• Prepare financial forecasts and projections to support short-term and long-term planning efforts. 

Compliance and Regulatory Reporting: 

• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and non-profit reporting requirements. 
• Prepare and submit required filings, including tax returns, grant reports, and government compliance reports. 

Financial Operations: 

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and banking activities. 
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and investment strategies to optimize financial resources. 

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement efficiency initiatives within the finance department. 

Leadership and Team Management: 

• Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering their professional growth and development. 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and alignment of financial goals. 

• Prepare reports and interact with volunteer governance body, with the primary responsibility of reporting the organization’s financial performance. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred. 
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible financial management experience, preferably in a non-profit organization. 

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations, including GAAP for non-profits. 
• Proficiency in financial software and systems; experience with accounting software and ERP systems preferred. 
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders. 
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments. 
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. 

• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience. 

Working Conditions: 

This position is based at our organization's headquarters and requires a combination of in-office and remote work. Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary, especially during critical financial reporting periods or audits.
