Raybourn Group International Director of Membership
Raybourn Group International (RGI) is seeking a full-time director of membership to join our Indianapolis office.
RGI is an AMC Institute Accredited Association Management Company. We provide outsourced association management, event planning and consulting services for dozens of nonprofits, trade associations and professional societies. We provide a number of services for our clients, including strategic planning, financial management, executive management, membership development, marketing/public relations, publications and social media, educational/professional development, and meeting/event planning, among others.

In-office work is preferred, however telecommuting or flexible work options may be discussed. Overnight travel is required to attend multi-day annual conferences (two weeks a year or less).
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Membership is integrally involved with members, volunteers, sponsors, and staff to execute the association’s strategic plan. Primarily manages strategies related to membership recruitment and engagement as well as sponsorship/partnership programs on behalf of the association, including the duties listed below as well as other related items as needed by the staff team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Membership
Develop and direct member recruitment, engagement, and retention programs to meet the goals of the association based on the member value proposition.
Research the needs and views of current and potential members to provide recommendations to decision-makers.
Provide support as directed for the association’s strategic plan initiatives and tracking.
Determine methods to collect data on key performance indicators for membership recruitment and retention including ensuring monthly and annual recruitment and retention reports are provided to decision-makers with any necessary recommendations.
Oversee and support the execution of membership renewals including closely monitoring, reporting on, and making adjustments to the plan as needed.
Oversee membership processes including application and renewal systems.
Maintain prospect database and implement campaigns to encourage membership.
Oversee processing of new member applications.
Develop and manage new member onboarding/welcoming processes.
Oversee maintenance and integrity of membership records and appropriate demographic data within the association management system (AMS).
Ensure the accuracy and availability of member resources and membership recruitment materials.
Remain current on benefits and services available to all segments of membership, updating and enhancing as needed.
Recommend, implement, and evaluate member value opportunities on a regular basis.
Respond to inquiries concerning membership questions/concerns in a professional and informative manner.
Work with communications to develop recruitment and retention messaging, timelines, and delivery methods.
Work with communications to ensure relevant content for the association’s e-newsletter.
Volunteer Management
Help lead various membership-related committees as well as special interest groups (chapters/divisions) by supporting them to achieve the charge/goals set out by the association.
Staff liaison for assigned committees/task forces as appropriate (including coordinating with volunteer leader, ensuring meeting agendas are created and minutes are taken).
Working with key volunteers to coordinate, facilitate and support volunteer training sessions.
Ensure accuracy for a list of key volunteer leaders.
Work with the Executive Director and Association President to ensure all committees are appropriately chaired and staffed.
Report to the Executive Director and Board of Directors on the progress groups assigned as the staff liaison.
Attend and support the Executive Director at Board meetings.
Financial
Support the Executive Director in the preparation of the annual budget.
Review areas of responsibility in monthly financial statements.
Events (Annual Convention, Webinars)
Perform duties as assigned to support the execution of the event.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant should demonstrate the ability to coordinate all phases of the association’s membership strategy and be able to work closely with the Executive Director and other staff members to execute the work of the association, and have:
Education level of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
3-5 years of experience in membership association management.
Proven ability to develop and execute membership strategies.
Experience in volunteer management.
Ability to interact comfortably and professionally with members and potential members virtually and in-person.
Familiarity with association management software (AMS) with the ability to quickly learn new systems and technology.
Proficient in most Microsoft Office applications (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and AMS/CMS platforms.
Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Strong attention to detail while keeping the overall goals of a project in mind.
Proven ability to work as part of a team.
