The American Academy of Ophthalmology is looking for a Manager, State Governmental Affairs.
The State Governmental Affairs (SGA) department plans, develops and executes the Academy’s state legislative, regulatory and public affairs agenda and analyzes the impact that state legislation and proposed regulations have on the ophthalmology profession and patients. This includes advocating for state policies that preserve the highest standards of safe, medical eye care and improve patient access to quality care, while opposing legislation and regulatory proposals that erode these standards.
The SGA manager is responsible for managing the state-level advocacy agenda of the Academy and maintain relationships with state ophthalmology societies, medical organizations, and state legislative and executive branches of government. Additionally, this position is responsible for analyzing the impact of state legislation and regulations on our members and patients, and developing and implementing comprehensive and strategic advocacy plans to advance the Academy’s state legislative/regulatory agenda.
