The Exhibit & Sponsorship Sales Manager is responsible for Exhibit & Sponsorship Sales for RE+ Events. As an organizational leader, they contribute to the development of RE+ strategic goals and objectives and relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
This position is part of the RE+ Sales team, which is responsible for all activities related to revenue producing opportunities, operational planning for RE+ events that involve the exhibit tradeshow floor, exhibitors, and sponsorships. As part of a dynamic team, this manager position is responsible for a significant revenue goal on existing events as well as new strategic sales opportunities and events. This manager will also manage several independent projects as assigned. The Exhibit Sales Manager works with internal team members and external stakeholders, partners, and vendors and will be required to report out on sales numbers with specific projects.
The Exhibit Sales Manager will be responsible for:
- Create impeccable customer relationships, including identifying customer needs and respond creatively, listening to information, asking questions, and applying knowledge to determine solutions.
- Work with Deputy Director of Exhibit & Sponsorship Sales on designated higher profile projects on an assigned basis
- Sales lead on assigned RE+ Events. Responsible for managing sales budget, sales goals and all sales logistics associated with the event pre-show, on-site and post-show.
- Develop prospecting opportunities by researching and/or analyzing solar industry segments and competing/complimentary events.
- Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to develop a comprehensive sales and marketing plan for each event, including development of promotional material and messaging.
- Provide sales support for new growth initiatives as needed
- Campaigns to include phone calls, email, social media, and industry tradeshow prospecting
- Manage and hold the position as main liaison with exhibitor registration system CDS and MYS set up and testing, exhibitor portals
- Manage and work with appropriate staff to evaluate all events, ensuring continual improvement and quality customer service.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting.
- Responsible for assisting payment collections on exhibits, sponsorships, and meeting rooms in a timely manner. Ensure all collections complete 30 days prior to exhibitor move-in. work closely it finance team, on RE+ assigned shows to also include RE+.
- Provide outstanding customer service support with rebooking of current exhibitors and sponsors.
- Assist with processing of all exhibitor and sponsor contracts, invoicing, and confirmation of payment.
- Manage collection status on all regional events, working with each sales representative maintain timelines and outreach as it aligns with Finance.
- Manage collection, cancellation, changes and tracking payment process in relation to all exhibitors in the assigned territory.
- Assist with onsite exhibitor and sponsor sales, service, and support at all RE+ events and possibly others as needed.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years meeting and event experience or 7+ years combined equivalent of work experience and education required.
- Exposure to associations or related service business.
- At least 3 years of experience coordinating and scheduling multiple events simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and pro-active team leader with experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with little or no supervision.
- Experience handling high-volume, production-based projects, including prioritizing, organizing, and tracking details, effectively managing deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Demonstrates effective leadership, management, and mentoring skills. Committed to strong relationships and quality service to internal team members and external clients and partners.
- Willingness to learn and look for ways to improve processes to achieve greater efficiency in pre, during, and post planning phases. This involves taking the initiative to try new approaches and trusting one’s own professional judgment.
- Ability to remain focused and be effective during program event setbacks. Must be able to juggle the demands of customers, vendors, and team members while remaining calm. This means knowing how to prioritize both in the office and on-site at event functions despite on-going interruptions. It is critical to be open to feedback in order to improve future performance.
- Demonstrate ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively to express information in both written and oral context with internal customers, attendees, team members, and vendors.
- Accomplished problem solver with superior analytical skills.
- Strong writing skills and a proven track record of developing professional and effective communications.
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Job Conditions
- SETS is a virtual-first office. Physical office option in Arlington, VA. Full time telework is our standard with intermittent in-person gatherings.
- Some travel (15%) and non-traditional work hours (i.e., after hours, weekends, and holidays) required. This travel will also include outreach events, site research, and partnership development.
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds and to physically participate in the movement, set-up, and storage of event related items/materials.
