The Drug, Chemical & Associated Technologies Association (DCAT) is seeking an individual to become its Deputy Director. Their varied experience and demonstrated success will allow for an 18-month transition path to the role of Executive Director.
To help us continue on our incredible journey of growth, as the Deputy Director, you’ll work with the current Executive Director and "wear many hats" that will allow you to learn the organization's purpose and its culture and how you might positively affect its future.
The DCAT organization, headquartered in New Jersey, is a not-for-profit business development association for the global Bio/Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Value Chain. DCAT develops and delivers programs and events, informational and value-add services for our 500+ global member companies. The organization's premier offering, DCAT Week, is held in New York City each March. Its' unique model and high-level decision-maker attendees render it the best and most important business event in the world for this industry sector. DCAT does not lobby any Local, State, Federal, or Foreign Governments. The position is remote, and there are some travel requirements.
At DCAT, you will:
- Blend your creative side with strategic planning, governance, and project management processes.
- Work closely with the meeting operations team to negotiate contracts, manage hotel relationships and continually improve and ensure the future of the annual meeting.
- Offer your organizational knowledge, supervise, and provide direction and problem-solving assistance for staff working within the organization's various departments.
- Oversee staff projects, evaluate progress, make recommendations, and develop reports.
- Work with volunteer committees, assess their needs, make recommendations, and develop reports.
- Learn industry concepts and keep current with trends affecting member companies that could impact the organization.
- Work closely with the Business Manager to fully understand the organization’s budget, budget process, and financial policies to maintain the organization's financial stability.
- Manage Human Resources, new hires, onboarding, and performance reviews.
- Represent the organization at events, and interface with members, vendors, and others in the industry community.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in association management with an emphasis on strategic planning, meeting, and contract management. 4-year degree preferred.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Must be creative, strategic, and enthusiastic with strong interpersonal skills – ready to be a leader.
- Extremely organized, analytical, and detailed-oriented.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and consistency of projects while handling multiple deadlines.
- Computer acumen and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must travel to New York for one week each March.
- Must be able to travel several times per year, including Europe.

NOTE: THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION – or you are welcome to work from our physical office in Central New Jersey. DCAT is a small-staffed association with twelve FT employees (and two PT consultants.) DCAT works in a secure cloud environment, where you can access files from work or home.
