The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) is an organization of professionals committed to excellence in cardiovascular ultrasound and its application to patient care through education, advocacy, research, innovation, and service to our members and the public. ASE, the largest subspecialty society for cardiovascular imaging, is seeking a Research Coordinator for our location in Durham, NC. This position may have the option to work from home, however will need to be available to come into the office for meetings as needed. This position will report to the Director of Research and Quality.
Position Summary: The Research Coordinator performs duties associated with coordinating, implementing and balancing multiple clinical research studies and projects. This position will assist with grant submissions, recruitment, enrollment, research data collection, and study coordination. They will guide projects and volunteers to adhere to established ASE Research and Registry frameworks, priorities and protocols. The Research Coordinator will work directly with institutions for study enrollment and be mindful of HIPAA, and other required obligations to safeguard Protected Health Information (PHI), and to ensure successful completion of research study goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (85% of time):
Staff liaison and coordinator of the ImageGuideEcho (IGE) Research & Publications Committee, including minutes and reports, onboarding of new committee members, support of Chair and handling of questions.
Assist in the preparation of research grant applications and related activities such as developing proposals, investigating financial support options, or soliciting proposals for funding. Collect and organize required paperwork for submission and/or adjudication processes.
Serve as the coordinator for approved research projects including:
Planning and coordination of the initiation of research study protocols, and the establishment of study operating policies and procedures.
Recruit, instruct, and coordinate research subjects/institutions and/or volunteers, as appropriate to specific study objectives and work scope.
Assure researcher and labs sign letters of agreement and other research/legal protocols and maintain these files.
Coordinate conference call and meeting scheduling for research stakeholders and project groups.
Plan, implement, and maintain data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocols; may coordinate the collection and analysis of research data.
Conduct basic data analysis as needed for project support. Identify and report issues that may affect the accuracy and quality of study design and implementation to meet study aims.
Coordinate document production and writing groups for results of research projects, including proofing articles, assisting with maintaining appropriate deadlines, and providing technical support as needed.
Support dissemination activities related to research efforts, including the development of website content, content creation for marketing communications, and coordination of presentations or educational sessions, in collaboration with the marketing and research staff.
Ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities; acts as the primary administrative point of contact for internal research staff.
Assist in the development of any technical specifications required for the successful development of research projects conducted through the ImageGuideEcho Registry.
May develop draft budgets for proposed research projects and submit to the Director of Research and Quality and other ASE staff as needed.
Other projects and duties as assigned by the Director of Research and Quality, Deputy Director, and/or CEO.
Other Functions: (15% of the time)
Manage and respond to project related email and phone calls, assuring a high level of customer service.
Participate in internal/external research-related conferences and investigator meetings to build and maintain research acumen.
Contribute to other projects and tasks as needed in support of ASE’s success, at the direction of the CEO, Deputy Director or Supervisor.
Support the organizational structure of ASE by attending staff meetings, working on task forces, seeking and attending professional development opportunities, working in a team atmosphere and cooperating with other staff members, completing minutes, meeting summaries, paperwork and timesheets in a timely manner.
Position may be assigned to attend meetings to provide staffing for assigned taskforces, the Registry, research projects, or other ASE-related duties. Travel, if any, would be limited to within the continental United States.
$53,000-55,000 depending on experience
