The National Pest Management Association is seeking a staff account to assist with receivables and payables. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced accounting department of 5 professionals and make a positive impact as you grow you career at NPMA.

The Staff Accountant will have responsibility for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and various General Ledger duties for the National Pest Management Association, and its affiliate organizations.
Prepare batched payments and remotely deposit checks into the bank, upon receipt from departments.
Batch and record merchant processing payments (PayPal, Stripe, Google Pay, Apple Pay) in the Association Management Database (Aptify) and QuickBooks. Handles all ACH, and wires for the organization and its entities.
Process check requests for multiple entities.
Prepare cash requirements report and send to Director of Finance before checks are cut.
Prepare a monthly schedule of outstanding A/P by individual entity.
General Ledger and Implementation of Technology:
Monthly reconciliation of A/P accounts, for all related entities, in addition to reconciliation of other assigned GL accounts.
NPMA and its related organizations are migrating from paper forms to a cloud-based platform (Bill.com). Assist in the setup of this technology and tech staff how to use once implemented.
Other duties as assigned.
Prepare 1099 reporting for all entities and respond to TIN matching letters from the IRS if applicable.
File annual escheat report with the state of Virginia.
Audit, Budget, and Tax Filings:
Prepare audit workpapers as assigned
Participate in budget preparation
Four-year undergraduate degree in accounting, required.
A minimum of 2 years’ work experience as an accountant, preferably in nonprofit associations.
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Attention to detail is a must.
MS Office (Emphasis in Excel).
com, or other automated AP system, required.
Experience with QuickBooks and Aptify, preferred.
