This position reports to ASMC's Deputy Executive Director & Director for Membership (DED&DM) to support decision-making and achievement of the Society’s mission, goals, and objectives. The incumbent collaborates with the DED&DM in the development, planning, and management of the organization’s membership goals, objectives, and initiatives, including individual and corporate membership, recruitment and retention of members, member services, and the ASMC awards program.
This position works closely with ASMC’s Membership Manager, the ASMC Business Analyst, as well as the Associate Director of Education and Professional Development and the Associate Director of Communications and PR. The Assistant Director (AD) works with ASMC Membership Manager and ASMC Business Analyst to develop regular reports on membership metrics, trends, and analysis, and also in recommending and developing new member programs and services. He or she also works collaboratively with corporate members and sponsors, volunteers, consultants, and staff, in providing tools, processes, and program management support. The Assistant Director assures the efficiency of systems and programs in part through maintaining key association knowledge, history, projects, and various resources.
Membership & Corporate Membership
Process and manage monthly email communication, invoicing, and renewal of ASMC’s Corporate Members.
Assists in the management and execution of Corporate Member programs such as breakfasts, dinners, and roundtables.
Recommend and implement system and program improvement of corporate membership, including new multi-year process and possible hybrid corporate designee billing occurring during system conversion.
Update individual records & assist members and staff with data requests on demand, as needed.
Assists in outreach efforts to grow ASMC corporate membership.
Collaborate with system vendors to maintain existing membership system while working towards migration to a new AMS; streamline and improve regular membership processes.
Recommend and implement policy and process improvements to membership management system and process improvements.
Works closely with the Associate Director of Communications and Public Affairs, as well as other departments, regarding public presentation of information.
Assists chapters with networked sites (microsites).
Works with Associate Director for Communications and PA to continuously upgrade website, and make chapter networked sites accessible.
Continuously monitor posts and update membership programs on ASMC’s Engage membership collaboration platform to better leverage not only as a member benefit, but as both a recruitment and retention tool.
ASMC Awards and Annual Professional Development Institute
Oversees the planning and development, and executes ASMC’s Awards Program, recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of its chapters, membership, and the defense financial management community. This program includes individual and team achievements, scholarships, educational grants, an essay contest, chapter recognition, and other individual based awards.
Identify and direct member judges throughout the awards process.
Manage pre-con communications and execute awards presentation onsite.
Assist with onsite PDI store and all other conference activities as needed.
Respond to all membership and chapter inquiries pertaining to above responsibilities via phone and email, and doing so with respect, courtesy, and efficiency. Backup for Membership team, Business Analyst, and others as needed.
Contribute to staff meetings, promote teamwork, and back up and assist staff and management as needed.
Working knowledge of computers in a windows environment as well as AMS experience – Altai, iMIS, WordPress, SQL
Knowledge and experience with association awards programs
Experience with website management a plus
Accuracy in writing, editing, and creative, collaborative design
Excellent project management skills

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION Undergraduate degree required preferred; 5+ years’ experience in association management.
ASMC is the non-profit educational and professional organization for persons, military and civilian, involved in the overall field of military comptrollership. ASMC promotes the education and training of its members, and supports the development and advancement of the profession of military comptrollership.
