The Human Resources Senior Manager, reporting to the Chief Executive Office, leads the overall provision of human resources services, policies and programs for the Society. Responsible for managing all aspects of the HR function, the Senior Manager's duties include talent acquisition, people development, organization changes, benefits administration, compensation, time and labor administration, payroll updates, performance management, policy implementation and employment law compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures HR initiatives are strategically aligned with the company’s short and long-term goals.
Advises management regarding complex HR issues to ensure consistent applications of practices in compliance with legal requirements and company policy.
Manages the employment process, which entails the recruitment, selection and placement of employees. Activities include placing advertisements online; collaborating with employment agencies; interviewing; salary negotiations; reference checking; and orientation of new employees.
Regularly monitors employee policies, procedures and practices to ensure that they meet compliance and affirmative action principles.
Maintains HRIS and acts as administrator.
Counsels staff on a variety of personnel-related matters including: sensitive issues, terminations, personality conflicts, potential charges of discrimination and policy interpretation.
Manages the salary and performance overview process for the staff by determining starting salaries, managing promotions; and monitoring performance overviews.
Administers the employee benefits program, including surveying vendors on an annual basis to ensure the Society offers the most comprehensive, cost-effective benefit package. Distributes individual plan information as plans are revised and serves as principal liaison with carrier representatives on claims, premium rate changes and exploring additional coverages.
Develops records-management procedures that maintain, update and retrieve data. Ensures Human Resources records/documents meet compliance standards.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
Education and Experience
Minimum of 5 years experience in a Generalist/Managerial Human Resources role.
Baccalaureate degree in Human Resources, Communications or other related degree.
Possess a strategic approach to human resources management and ability to maintain progress towards established goals and objectives.
Business acumen and the ability to work with other departments to integrate human resources functions.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with staff at all levels within the organization.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects.
