The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) is seeking a creative communicator to add to their leading-edge communications and engagement team. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Engagement, the Communications Manager will develop and implement communication strategies and distribute multiple communications to all ACOFP members via electronic, print and social media channels. This role takes the lead in writing and editing copy for member communications, including original articles, blog posts, e-newsletter stories, website copy, press releases, speeches and presentations.

HOW YOU’LL SERVE:
Inform communications strategy for the ACOFP blog, newsletters and website; support implementation; and monitor metrics in strategic communication plan.
Manage the ACOFP blog, including the curation, editing and dissemination of content.
Curate and edit content for all association e-newsletters, plus manage distribution and website postings of the e-newsletters. Evaluate and report weekly analytics.
Manage the production of the Osteopathic Family Physician journal, to include coordination with print vendor and external consultants, copy editing the journal in its entirety and ghostwriting the president’s message.
Provide content and content dissemination strategies for association social media platforms.
Prepare all speeches and presentations for staff and ACOFP leaders.
Write and distribute press releases.
Raise awareness of the association's programs by placing stories with key news media.
Manage content on the ACOFP website, to include creating new pages and content pieces, reviewing content regularly to ensure information is up-to-date and collaborating with staff on content updates.
Develop additional member and nonmember communication, as needed.
Work with departments to ensure the overall consistency and quality of messaging and branded communication.
In partnership with the Knowledge, Learning & Assessment team, collaborate with assigned committees—including the ACOFP Health & Wellness Committee, Editorial Committee and Women’s Leadership Committee—to identify ways to curate and cross-promote content.
WHAT WE REQUIRE:
5+ years of experience in a communications position; association experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
Strong and proven written communication and editorial skills (AP-style preferred)
Excellent collaboration skills, as well as the ability to take initiative and work independently
Knowledge and understanding of communication and public relations practices
Proficiency in email platforms (e.g., Informz, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, etc.); content management systems (e.g., WordPress, RISE, Drupal, etc.); and association management software (e.g., iMIS, Personify, NetForum) preferred
Experience using social media, other electronic communications and Microsoft Office products, including remote connection tools like Microsoft Teams
Project management expertise, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and experience with project management tools
Experience working with volunteer groups preferred
