WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
The Executive Vice President (EVP) is responsible for leading, managing, and representing the Texas Beef Council (TBC) in a professional and efficient manner, in accordance with the Beef Promotion and Research Act & Order (BPRA&A), its policies as established by the TBC Board of Directors, TBC’s long-range plan and TBC’s approved annual plan and budget. This role reports to the Chairman, the Executive Committee, and the Board of Directors.
This position is based full-time in beautiful Austin, TX and requires significant travel (25-35%). During the first year, travel could be closer to 40% as the new EVP builds relationships with industry organizations and attends producer meetings. The EVP is expected to be present at TBC conferences and events, and also attends major Beef industry events as deemed appropriate and valuable to TBC.
The successful candidate will possess:
7 – 10 years of experience in leadership roles; industry experience preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in business or industry-related field with a minimum of 10 years progressively responsible business experience, with proven leadership, managerial and supervisory skills
A high degree of dedication and commitment to TBC and the beef industry
A results-oriented record of achievement in organizational leadership, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills.
A proven ability to supervise, train, and develop staff
Strong verbal and written communication skills to connect effectively with all levels of company and industry representatives.
WHAT ARE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE
Core responsibilities include:
Providing vision and strategic thinking in partnership with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee
Ensuring TBC’s fiscal health as Treasurer of the corporation and determine responsibilities to be delegated to the Vice President, Finance and Operations.
Optimizing recruitment, development, and supervision of TBC professional staff
Providing oversight of program areas
Overseeing the implementation of strategic focus areas
Serve as staff liaison to TBC and BPRC Executive Committees, Audit & Budget Committees, and Board of Director and also as Secretary of the corporation and keep a record of the proceedings of meetings of the Board of Directors or Executive Committee.
Initiate and manage the revision of the TBC long-range plan when appropriate.
Develop, implement, manage, and evaluate TBC’s annual marketing plan and budget.
Provide approval and authorization for financial transactions and related contracts which are in accordance with the annual plan and budget.
Oversee acquisition of capital assets.
Ensure collection and compliance of National and State Checkoffs.
Develop yearly collection site visits plan.
