Summary

This salaried, full-time position with the Agricultural Retailers Association reports to the President and CEO. He/She will work closely with various staff members on communications- and marketing-related matters. This role is located in the association’s office in Washington, D.C. Close collaboration is expected especially with the Director of Member Services and the Vice President for Membership & Corporate Relations. The Director of Communications & Marketing is responsible for the internal and external brand image of ARA, as well as the association’s communications to members, stakeholders, media and general public.

Primary Duties

Communications & Marketing

• • Publications: annual report, RetailerFact$ newsletter (biweekly), content for Ag Pro magazine (monthly), press releases, member alerts, etc.
  • Web site: content, design, functionality, maintenance, replying to “Contact Us” requests
    • Manage advertising placement in ARA publications and web site
  • Social Media including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • ARA’s “Proud Member” logo administration
  • Create and maintain presentation and stationery templates
  • Design of Membership marketing materials
  • Assist with ARAPAC and other ARA communications
  • Staff coordinator for the Communications Subcommittee of Member Services
• Lead ARA strategic initiative for Agricultural Image Enhancement
  • Manage ARA’s Retailer of the Year program
  • Environmental Respect Award selection committee
  • Liaison to USFRA and other groups
  • Spokesperson training and message development
• Staff lead for Media Relations
  • Lead contact and gatekeeper for reporters
  • Liaison to ag media organizations (NAFB, etc.)
• Annual Conference
  • Speaker logistics manager (A/V, speaker preparation & travel, etc.)
  • Promotional materials (theme/graphic design, registration materials, program book, publicity, signage, event tickets, auction catalogue, etc.)
  • Media contact for interview scheduling with speakers and ARA leaders
